THE FOUNDER
Eddie Williams is the founder of the DTW Initiative and uses his own life story and successes to help motivate others. A native of North Philadelphia, he struggled daily with violence, drugs, and a system designed to keep Black men from succeeding. He credits cooking as his way out and worked his way from being a dishwasher to a food service manager and eventually owning his own catering company to elevate himself out of his circumstance. As an adult, he recognized how the barriers and messaging he faced growing up kept him from achieving his dream of pursuing music and earning a college degree. He went back to school and earned his Associate of Science degree in Recording Arts from a local community college and went on to attend California State University Dominguez Hills and earn a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Design and Purdue University to earn a Master of Science in Communication. Eddie owns his own music company, Fell4UMusic and internet radio station on Live365. He is co-founder of the Lucky Box Project providing families transitioning out of homelessness with household supplies. In 2018, he recognized the importance of telling his story and giving back and created the DTW Initiative to empower other Black men.
